Salem, Marion County, IL ?), Date: unknown (abt. 1942) MARRIAGE ---------- DAVIES-NICHOLSON RITES IN CHURCH ARE IMPRESSIVE Miss Betty Jane Nicholson, attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Nicholson, 1034 Jefferson street, became the bride of Pvt. Frank I. Davies in an impressive ceremony Thursday evening a 6 o'clock in Salem Evangelical and Reformed church. The Rev. E. B. Davies, pastor of the Methodist church at Moweaqua, had the peasure of officiating at his son's wedding. The chancel of the church with its decorations of palms and lighted tall candles gave an attractive setting. John Schlinkman at the organ played the conventional wedding marches and his program of nuptial music included "Moonlight and Roses," "My Shining Hour" and "I Love You Truly." Miss Dorothy Baldwin, a cousin, was the bride's only attendant. Bernard Davies of Moweaqua, was his brother's attendant. Donald Nicholson, a brother of the bride, and Louis Degitz were ushers. The attractive bride chose a powder blue street frock trimmed with moire, and black hat and accessories for her wedding. Her corsage was of pink carnations. Miss Baldwin chose a navy blue street dress trimmed with white eyelet embroidery lace and navy hat and accessories. She had a corsage of white carnations. Mrs. Nicholson wore brown and Mrs. Davies, the bridegroom's mother, wore black. Both had corsages of sweet peas. A dinner at Durst's entertained a company of 18 guests. Decorations there were carried out, too, in pink and blue. A reception followed in the evening to which a company of 100 was invited. Mrs. Davies will remain at home with her parents for the present. She is a graduate of Quincy Senior High school where she won membership in the National Honor society. She was also a member of Hypatia Literary society. The bride is employed as cashier at the Scott Burr corporation. Her husband, though he was only located here a year before going in military service, made many friends in Quincy. He was the assistant manager of the Scott Burr corporation. Private Davies is now stationed at Camp Ellis with the general engineers. He has been in military service two years. He will leave Sunday for Camp Ellis.
