As he had often requested the Knights of Pythias in which he had long held a commanding position, were in charge of the services at the grave. The funeral services at the home, 1118 N. Logan avenue, were held at 4 o'clock and were in charge of the Rev. H.W. McPherson, pastor of the St. James Methodist church. There was a large gathering of friends at the home, the court house, where he had served so honorably and long, being represented from every department. Pallbearers were selected from among the membership of the Knights of Pythias.
