He had only worked there one week, but was an experienced hand at such work. He had finished his day’s work and was returning to the shaft bottom to go home, when the rock fell on him, killing him instantly. He left a widowed mother at Braceville, from which place he came. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and also the Foresters and was in good standing in both orders, which jointly buried him with all of the honors of those societies.
