OBIT: Danville Commercial News Monday June 25, 1962 MRS. ALICE LAIRD Hoopeston (cns)--Mrs. Alice Mae Laird, 75, died unexpectedly at her home at 806 E. main St. at 2 :10 p.m. Sunday,June 24, 1962. She had been in ill health two months. She had resided at the Main St. address since 1940. Born July 2, 1886, in Fairview, Ind., she was a daughter of Samuel E. and Louisa Jackway Smith. She was married July 4, 1902, in State Line Ind., to James W. Laird who preceded her in death April 16, 1940. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ora McCray of Watseka, Two sons, Lonnie of Hoopeston and Donald of Wonder Lake, Ill., and three brothers , George Smith of Edon, Ohio, William R. Smith of Fair view, and Charles H. of Milford. Also Four sisters, Mrs. Anna Mathis of pence, Ind., Mrs. Harry McDonald of Alvin, Mrs. Bessie Shatell of West Lebanon, Ind. and Mrs. Lucy McLaughlin of Hoopeston, 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter. The body is at the Hamilton funeral Home where friends will be received 709 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Wilson officiating.
