Helen was born Nov. 3, 1934, in Danville to Elmer Franklin and Cora Ethel Miller Drake. She attended Danville schools and had worked at Quaker Oats as a machine operator from 1972 to 1998. Helen was a member of the Vermilion Fishing Club and enjoyed her family and friends. Helen married Jeremiah Lincoln DeWitt on Dec. 22, 1951, in Danville, and he survives. Also surviving are: three sons, Walter (Janice) DeWitt of Danville, Jerry (Cathy) DeWitt of Franklin, Tenn., and David (Celsa) DeWitt of Yigo, Guam; three sisters, Anna Ford, Dorothy Trinkle Myers and Rosemary (Michael) Baker; a brother, Harold Drake of Danville; nine grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents; three brothers, Carl ('67), Richard ('96) and Glenn ('99); two sisters, Elmeretta Tomlinson ('68) and Lorene Jackson ('89). She was a loving wife and mother and will be sadly missed. Private graveside services: 2 p.m. Monday, April 28, at Mann's Chapel south of Rossville, with her son, Pastor Walter DeWitt presiding.
