Drake Sr., 82, of Danville, died at 7:53 p.m. Monday (June 16, 2003) at Provena USMC, Logan campus. Mr. Drake was born July 13, 1920, in Danville, the son of Elmer F. and Cora E. Miller Drake. He married Vera L. Hunley Jan. 11, 2000, in Danville. She survives. Surviving children, Harold (Betty) Drake Jr. of Danville and Billie (Arnold) Pruitt of Bismarck; four grandchildren, Teresa Sroufek, Darren (Shiela) Beninato, and Kevin and Kelly Drake; two great-grandchildren, Christian Kinney and Ryan Colleen; and two stepchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Trinkle, Anna Ford and Rosemary Baker, all of Danville. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Mr. Drake was a member of the American Legion Post 210. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and camping. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Prior to his retirement, he worked at Hurletron as a tool and die maker (machinist). Funeral services: 1 p.m. Friday, June 20 at the VA Protestant Chapel; Burial: Danville National Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 210; There will be a visitation one hour prior to the services at the VA Protestant Chapel.
