OBIT: LAST RITES FOR GENIE SMITH HELD SUNDAY Mrs. Genie smith, 54, died at 4:10 p.m. Friday January 23, 1942 at the St. Elizabeth hospital in Danville where she had been a patient five days. Death was caused by a cerebral hemorrhage. She was born October 15, 1887 in Texas daughter of James and Mary Hooten. On July 23, 1904 she was married to Elon Smith in Kentucky. She had lived in Rossville 16 years. Surviving are the husband and five children Mrs. Mary Huffman, Mrs. Mabel Deck and Herbert Smith of Rossville; Mrs. Margaret Perkins of Cedar Lake, Ind. and Mrs. Pearl Viles of South Holland ,Illinois. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William Huffman with the Rev. Paul W. Boyer, pastor of the Rossville Church of Christ, officiating. Mrs. Nora Schultz and Mrs. Roy Mitchell sang two numbers; "rock of Ages: and "Going Down the Valley." Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Mary McBride, Mrs. Nora McBride, Mrs Doris Eaken, Mrs. Robert Thompson, Mrs. Hazel Fidler and Mrs. Frances York. Pallbearers were: C. M. York, Dale Filder, Orvile Eaken and Sam Strawser. Interment was in the Rossville Cemetery, F. L.
