Fifteenth Annual Report of the State Bureau of Labor Statistics, 1896
January 31, 1896, Andrew Jackson (colored), miner, employed by the Pawnee Coal 
Company of Westville, Vermilion county, was instantly killed by fall of roof in 
room 38, eighth north entry. He had been repeatedly warned of the roof, but paid 
no attention to it. He was about 35 years of age, married, family unknown.
