Griffin died at his home in Danville, Ill., Oct 14, 1895. For three months cancer of the liver and dropsy had compelled him to keep his bed, and caused him great suffering. The funeral and burial took pace at Palestine, Ill., where he had spent several years in a successful ministry. Bro. Griffin was born in *Claybourne county, Ky*., on October 13, 1830. He moved to Indiana, where he made his home until 1879, when he moved to Flora, Ill. He was ordained to the ministry in 1852, by Antioch Church, Sullivan County, Ind. He was a good preacher and a good man. He preached for several of the churches in Southwestern Indiana and Eastern Illinois. His last regular work was with the church in Danville, Ill. He gave up the work there in May, 1894, but continued his residence with that church until his death. He was held in high esteem by those who knew him well, and by all the churches he had so faithfully served. He leaves a wife and seven children -- all grown -- and a host of loving friends to mourn their loss. During the forty-three years of service in the ministry he was instrumental in bringing more than 2,000 persons to Christ. So he will not come to the Master empty handed. We can trust that the Lord, whom he served so faithfully, will amply reward him. Funeral services were conducted by the writer in the church at Palestine, Ill. Text.
