OBIT: DEATH CLAIMS FORMER POSTMASTER Leo J. Byrne, former postmaster of Rossville and for the past 16 years associated with the Youngstown Steel Mill, east Chicago, died at 1:40 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 1939 at his home in East Chicago. Death came one day following his 61st birthday anniversary. Mr Byrne was born in Rossville. April 29, 1878, son of James and Elizabeth Doyle Byrne. Surviving are a daughter, Bernice of Danville, two sons, James of Danville and Ed of East Chicago and a brother John Byrne of Rossville. The body was brought to the John Byrne home in Rossville on Tuesday where funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. George Boetcher, pastor of the St. John Evangelical church of Danville, officiated. Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Louis Felgenhauer, Mrs. Clark Carter, Mrs. C. E. Morgan, Mrs. Walter Ennis, Mrs. Don Prillaman, Mrs. A. J. Schroeder. Pallbearers were Tell Brown, S. E. Layton, George Miller, Samuel Miller, Harvey Young and Harry Musk.
