OBIT: PNEUMONIA CLAIMS AGED RESIDENT Death came to Mrs. Mary Ann Prather, 89 , at 4:30 p..m. March 2, 1939 at her home on E. Attica St. After a brief illness of pneumonia. Mrs. Prather was born August 16, 1849 in white Oak Michigan, daughter of James and Mary Segear. When quite young she moved to Illinois with her parents. Her marriage to Johnothan Prather occurred March 3, 1873 in Hoopeston. Mr. Prather, Rossville's last civil war veteran, preceded her in death nine years ago. She was also preceded in death by a son who died in infancy, two brothers and one sister. Surviving are one son, Ortho of Rossville and three sisters, Lydia A. Gill of Long Beach, California, Della Benson of Portsmouth, Virginia and Margaret Dennis of Dansville, Michigan Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the home with Rev. Paul Magnuson, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiating. Flowers wree in charge of Mrs. R. H. Poland, Mrs. Date Huffman, Mrs. Minnie Musk, Mrs. L. H. Schlecht, Mrs. Harvey Young, Mrs. G. H. Prillaman, Mrs. Frank Marrs and Mrs. Cecil Thomas. Pallbearers were R. H. Poland, Harvey Young, C. F. Gathard, Cecil Thomas, Bert Smith and Date Huffman.
