Per his wishes he will be cremated at Pape Memorial Home and Cremation Garden. A family gathering and visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Danville National Cemetery with military honors by the Korean War Veterans. Howard was born Aug. 29, 1925, in Danville, to Amos and Armada Mills Pollitt. He attended Oakwood schools and served in the Army during WW II. He had worked for many years as an ironworker out of Champaign Local 380 and after retiring he drove a school bus in Oakwood. Howard enjoyed camping and taking rides through the park. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He married Dorothy Juvinall in Tilton. Survivors include: Wife Dorothy; sons: Mike Pollitt and Howard Pollitt (Lori), both of Danville; and daughter: Debbie Holycross of Covington, Ind. Four stepsons: Bob Carpenter (Sandy) of Florida, Terry Carpenter (Susan), Randy Carpenter (Glenda), and Darrell Carpenter (Sandy), all of Danville. Also 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, four sisters, stepdaughter, and great-grandson. Guest register at pape@papemortuary.com.
