Fifteenth Annual Report of the State Bureau of Labor Statistics, 1896
April 20, 1896, Richard Sanders, miner, aged 38 years, single, employed by 
Delaware Coal Company as a miner at their mine near Grape Creek, Vermilion county. 
The deceased was at work on a bench of coal in the third south entry when a fall 
of roof came on him, knocking him backwards breaking his back and otherwise 
injuring him. He lived four days after the accident.
