Obit: S. L. GORDON Former shops Employee dies. Samuel Lewis ( Doc) Gordon, 77 carman at C.& E. I. Oakland shops for 46 years died Tuesday at Saint Elizabeth Hospital. A resident of Danville for 62 years. Mr. Gordon retired 11 years ago. He was born in Caanan Indiana, April 1, 1871 a son of Samuel and Sarah Gordon. He was married in 1894 to Mary Luella Buck who preceded him in death in 1945. He was a member of Brother hood of Railroad Carman of American Local. Surviving are three sons, Harry, William and John Gordon all of Danville. Two daughters, Mrs. Fred Strawser, with who he made his home at 810 Bryan Ave. and Mrs. Joseph Huffamn, Danville, one brother , John Gordon, Caanan, Indidana. 17 grand children and four great grandchildren. The body is at the Berhalter Funeral Home where services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the Atherton Cemetery. There is no date on this obt.
