Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at the Potomac Church of Christ; Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the church. Burial will be in Mann’s Chapel. Moran & Goebel Funeral Home in Decatur is in charge. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or donor’s choice. Gene was born on Aug. 4, 1936, in Danville, the son of Frank and Elmeretta Drake Tomlinson. He was a member of the NRA, Vermilion Fishing Club and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He retired from Flex-N-Gate in Urbana in 1999. He married Virginia A. Endsley on April 16, 1983, in Mahomet. Surviving are: his wife, Virginia; son, James (Stacy) Tomlinson of Flagstaff, Ariz.; daughters, Dolores Tomlinson of Danville, Stephanie (Charles) Pittman of Potomac and Patricia (William) Lanham of Alvin; brothers, John (Judy) Tomlinson of Danville, Ill.; Scott (Tammy) Tomlinson of Danville and Michael (Penny) Tomlinson of Ohio; sisters, Nancy Vaglica of Danville, Kathy (Raymond) Coon of Danville and Christina Tomlinson of Danville; 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
