Nineteenth Annual Report of the Illinois Bureau of Labor Statistics, 1900
February 27, 1900, E. H. Tucker, of Grape Creek, aged 15 years, married, killed in 
mine No. 1, of the Brookside Coal Co., by a fall of rock in his He worked with his 
son, and was engaged in taking up some bottom coal on the far side of his room, 
when a large side rock fell suddenly, killing him instantly. He knew that the rock 
was loose, but concluded that it would not fall as soon as it did. He left a widow 
and two children to mourn his untimely death.
