Obit: Retired Farmer Dies at Home Here Tuesday William H. Beckley , 69, prominent retired farmer died at his home on E. Attica Street at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday February 14, 1939 after a two years illness of complications William Henry Beckley was born August 3, 1870 at Newton, Illinois son of Samuel and Isabelle Grose Beckley. Mr. Beckley spent his entire life in Eastern Illinois and Western Indiana and engaged in farming activities until his retirement when he moved to Rossville. On December 25, 1894 he was united in marriage to Mary Etta Haas. To this union were born five sons and two daughters, Mrs. Lucreta Cornell and Mrs. Esther Berlin , Forest, William Jr. and harry all of Rossville, Grant, Danville and Earl , Bismarck. Mrs. Beckley preceded him in death on August 30, 1927. On December 14, 1932 he was again united in marriage to Emery German who survives with the 7 children. Also surviving are two brothers, Harry of Cleator, Arizona, Lawrence of San Francisco, California; one sister , Mrs. Mattie Keel of Rochester, Ind. and one step-sister, Mrs. Ethel LaPage of Westfield, Ohio and 19 Great Grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Brethern Church with Rev. C. W. Taylor of Gary , Ind. officiating.
