The deceased went into a room— number 24, sixth south entry—about 1 o'clock p. m., and commenced loading coal, when a large fall of rock fell on him, killing him instantly. The room was not properly timbered, the nearest prop to the face of the coal being eighteen feet. It was one of a number of rooms in which the timbering and blasting was done by contract. The deceased was a single man.
