   THE ORCHESTRA. This year the Illinois State High School Orchestra Association
was formed, which permitted grade school players to take part in the high school
orchestra. This was a decided advantage since it permitted our director to
combine the grade and high school talent to give a more complete string section.
The orchestra has nine violins, a cello, and a string bass, besides the brass
and wood-wind section. Fortunately, all of this group are underclassmen and will
return next year, enabling us to have an advanced string section. The orchestra
took part in the Spring Concert; district contest of the Illinois State High
School Orchestra Association. From left to right, they are as follows:

Top Row-Gertrude Scott, Mr. Handley, Helen Ruth Stone, James Irvin. Junior
Morrison.
Middle Row-Sam Wise, Louise Ellett, Virginia Moreland. Martha Lois Stahl,
Kathryn Ogle, Wilbur Cannon, Robert Jeakins, Elizabeth Lowe, Weldon Sheets.
Bottom Row-Louise Scott. Hazel Myers, Barbara Jean Saunders, Cora Baker,
Margaret Taylor, Beverly Smith, Mary Ellen McCormick.
