MARRIAGE: COON-CALDWELL NUPTIAL READ AT CARBONDALE Miss Alice Caldwell, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Caldwell, 512 south Beveridge Street, Carbondale became the bride of Ronald Coon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Coon, Rossville at high noon , Sunday June 15, 1941 at the home of the bride's great aunts, Misses Grace and rose Perry, 513 South Beveridge Street, Carbondale. Dr. M. S. Harvey, pastor of the First Methodist Church, Carbondale read the single ring ceremony before the Mantel which was a profusion of White lilies and other white garden flowers, intermingled with ferns and palms and lighted by tall tapers in white candelabra. Only immediate families and close friends of the bride were present for the ceremony. The bride was dressed in a blue sheer ensemble with coat and wore a white hat made of gardenias and petals, with white accessories. Her flowers were a corsage of white sweet peas and gladioli. Preceding the ceremony a fifteen minute piano recital was given by Miss Lucy Parrish who played " Star Dust" by Carmichael. "Because" by D. Hardelot, " At Dawning" by Cadman and " Sweetest Story Ever Told" By Stults. The bridal chorus by Wagner was played as the wedding march. After the ceremony the wedding cake was cut and served with ice cream, Misses Eva Millligan and Elizabeth Merwin serving. Betty Holiday, Virginia Gordon and Betty Hagler, cousins of the bride and Mildred Milligan also assisted in serving. Mr. and Mrs. Coon departed shortly after the ceremony for a wedding trip after which they will be at home at 11 S. Eastern Ave., Joliet. Mrs. Coon has always made her home in Carbondale and is a graduate of the Carbondale Community high school and received her degree from the Southern Illinois Normal University in 19238. Since that time she taught school one year in new Burnside and for the past two years in the Rossville Grade school. Mr. Coon attended the University of Illinois at Champaign and is now employed by the government as a Material checker of the Wilmington Plant. Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Everett Coon and son Willard of Rossville , Parents and brother of the bridegroom, Mrs. Frank Caldwell of Junction city, Kansas, grandmother of the bride, Mrs. Oscar Koch of Ft. Benning, Ga. Aunt of the bride, Miss Rosana Veach of Vienna, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Yarbrouogh of Cairo and Mrs. And Mrs. Wm. McGinnis of St. Louis Missouri.
