Marriage: MARRIED TUESDAY MORNING A pretty June wedding was solemnized at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 1941 at the St. Elizabeth Church in Thomasboro, when Florence J. Mitsdarfter, Rossville, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Mitsdarfter of Villa Grove, became the bride of Staff Sargent, Ulysses W. Hess of Chanute Field, Rantoul, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Hess of Webb City, Missouri. Father Paul A. Reedy, pastor of the church, officiated with the single ring ceremony in the presence of members of the immediate families. The bride wore a gown of white satin with finger tip veil and carried an arm bouquet of white rose buds and lilies of the valley. Her maid of honor was her sister, Mary Mitsdarfter of St. Louis, Missouri, who wore a dress of green lace with a shoulder corsage of pink carnations. Jane Layton of Rossville, bridesmaid , was attired in a green floor length dress and also wore a shoulder corsage of pink carnations. The bridegroom was attended by Clarence Mitsdarfter , brother of the bride and William Trego of Rantoul. Following the wedding a reception and dinner was held at the home of the bride's parents with fifty guests present. Mrs. Hess who attended St. Marys school near Pesotum has resided in Rossville the past five years and at present has a position with Layton's Confectionery. Mr. Hess attended school in Ponca City, Oklahoma and the University of Tulsa where he taught two years. He has been in the Army service since 1938 and is now stationed at Chanute Field where he is in charge of recruiting and classifying. After the dinner and reception the couple left for a wedding trip throu gh Iowa and Nebraska.
