MRS. EUGENE LAURSEN In an impressive single ring service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 1941,Miss Gladys Marie Haire of the Portia Club, daughter of Joe Haire of Hoopeston, became the bride of Eugene Laursen, son of Laurits Laursen of Rossville. Vows were plighted at Antioch Christian Church in the Antioch community north of Rossville in presence of some 30 relatives and friends. Nuptials were solemnized by the Rev. Ralph M. Small. As the bridal party entered, Mrs. Florence Kerchenfaut played , "The Bridal Chorus" from Wagner's " Lohengrin" and softly throughout the ceremony played " I Love You Truly, " For the recessional she played Mendelssohn's Wedding March. Attending the bride was Janet Kerechenfaut, Danville, who was attired in white silk sprinkled pink flowers and blue jacket. Her shoulder flowers were pink carnations. Allen Haire, brother of the bride, attended the bridegroom as best man. The bride wore white brocaded satin fashioned Princess style, floor length, with long train, sweetheart neckline and long pointed sleeves. Her fingertip tulle veil trimmed in lace as held by seed pearls and orange blossoms. She wore a triple strand of pearls and carried an arm bouquet of white carnations and baby breath. Reception was held at bride's home following the nuptials for about 30 relatives and friends. A three-tiered wedding cake with miniature bride and bridegroom and garden flowers in a pink and white color scheme centered the bridal table. Later the couple left for a wedding trip to Chicago,. For traveling the bride wore blue trimmed in burgundy with burgundy accessories Mrs. Laursen was graduated with the class of 1937 from Rossville High School and since has been employed at the F. W. amend Company here.
