Jeremiah Ballard's daughter, Tryphosa married Eben Putman on 28-aug-1817. Jeremiah had a son, Joseph who married Martha Putman, 29-dec-1815. Rather than move the remains to another location, they were put in a nearby hole, covered up with dirt and then water. This is an acceptable practice with US Corps of Engineers. Grayson, grandfather of Charles Grayson. This cemetery is near Keensburg. This was the first Edwards County seat, when the County was one third the size of Illinois and a part of Michigan & Wisconsin. For some unknown reason, people died here by the hundreds. Mr. Raynolds himself is buried here. He served during the War of 1812, from the state of Kentucky. Information given by Anna Harman, that a Mr. Schearer, Civil War veteran told her years ago, also Henry Seitz said the veteran was here on a visit and died and was buried in this cemetery some 50 years ago. Here was found several markers resting against a tree in a briar patch.
