about 1816 or 1815, when he came from Scotland.  A clump of trees mark the site of the cemetery.  Known 
to be buried here are Thomas Banks, William Corrie and his wife, the infant child of Rev. Stephen Bliss, 
Agnes Elizabeth Corrie, daughter of Robert Corrie, and others.

Jeremiah Ballard's daughter, Tryphosa married Eben Putman on 28-aug-1817.  Jeremiah had a son, Joseph 
who married Martha Putman, 29-dec-1815.

Location: Clyde Dennam excavated this area to build Lake Dennam.  During the construction, allegedly, 
many Indian graves were uncovered.  Rather than move the remains to another location, they were put in a 
nearby hole, covered up with dirt and then water. This is an acceptable practice with US Corps of Engineers.

Palmyra was settled around 22-apr-1815.  This was the first Edwards County seat, when the County was 
one third the size of Illinois and a part of Michigan & Wisconsin.  For some unknown reason, people died
here by the hundreds.  Unfortunately, there are no grave markers that lasted. 1650N & 1200E

ago, also Henry Seitz said the veteran was here on a visit and died and was buried in this cemetery some 
50 years ago.  The marker is still there.

near Maud on the left side of Maud road on a knoll.  Four graves are here and of the West family, no 
markers were ever put here.  Small bushes are grown over the graves.
