On this 8th day of April A.D. one thousand eight hundred and fifty one personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace within and for the county and State aforesaid, Elizabeth Cunningham, wife of Stewart Cunningham aged sixty five years, a resident of Wabash County, Illinois who being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the wife and widow of Stewart Cunningham who was a private in the company commanded by Captain David Robb in the 4th regiment of Indiana Militia commanded by Col. Luke Decker in the war with the Indians on the Northwestern frontier in the Tippicanoe Campaign, and from the best information she can get from her husband and fathers-as she must rely mainly upon this source of information for dates to make this declaration, he volunteered at James Robb, Ind, Knox Co. then, sometime in the fall of 1811, and she does not know for how long he volunteered, and he continued in actual service on or about two months, and was honorably discharged at Vincennes, Indiana in the same fall the day and month not recollected, as will appear by the rolls of said company - He received no written discharge and that he also volunteered again in the company commanded by Capt. John Milburn in the 4th Regiment of Indiana volunteers - commanded by Col. R.M. Evans to go to the relief of Fort Harrison and that he volunteered at Vincennes, Indiana on or about the month of Sept A.D. 1812 for the term of indefinite time and continued in actual service in said war for the term of six weeks and was honorably discharged at Vincennes, Indiana on or about 15th day of October A.D, 1812 as will appear by the muster rolls of said company - as no written discharges were given to any of the company - She further states that she was married in Jackson Co, Georgia June 22, 1804 by one Esq. Ramy. She has no knowledge about whether her marriage is still upon record in that county or not, and that her said husband died in Gibson County, Indiana, on or about the 25th day of June 1833 and that she was when the law of Sept 28th 1850 passed, and is now his widow. She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which he may be entitled under the act granting bounty land to certain officers and soldiers who have been engaged in the military service of the United States, passed September 28, 1850. Elizabeth (her X mark) Cunningham Sworn to and subscribed to before me the day and year above written. And I hereby certify that I believe the said Elizabeth Cunningham to be the identical woman who is wife of him who served aforesaid and that she is of the age above stated. J.N.
