Galesburg (IL) Republican Register: Sept. 10, 1887 (page 8, cols. 5 and 6) Re: death of William DAVES Col. 5 (under news from Henderson): Mr. Daves died at his home in Henderson Wednesday evening. He has long been a sufferer from a cancer of the face. He leaves a wife and a large circle of relatives. Funeral service (sic) were held Friday at 10 o'clock. Col 6 (under obituary): --Mr. William Daves died Wednesday at his home in Henderson, aged 73 years, of cancer. He was one of the pioneers of Illinois. Sixty-one years of his life have been spent in Warren and Knox counties. He was the father of fourteen children.
