Funeral services for Reuben J. Chorpenning, 78, of 309 E. Jefferson Street in Osceola [Iowa], were held at 2:30 p.m. today in the Sherman-Eden Funeral Home with Gerald Chapman in charge. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery here [Washington, Iowa]. A service also was held Sunday afternoon in the Kale Funeral Home at Osceola. Mr. Chorpenning died February 2, 1973 in Osceola after a long illness. He was born March 28, 1894 in Oakdale, Ill., a son of George M. and Cora Belle Logan Chorpenning. He was reared in Illinois and married here March 28, 1918 to Helen J. Buhrman. They had moved to Osceola from Washington [Iowa] in 1940. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his wife; one son, Robert of San Francisco, Calif.; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; three brothers: Ralph, Earl and Russell, all of Washington [Iowa]. His parents, one sister, Mrs. Sadie Anderson; and two brothers, James and Melville, preceded him in death.
