MARRIED 50 YEARS

Mr. and Mrs. R. S. McDowell, of near Mt. Erie, celebrated 
their golden wedding anniversary Sunday.  Dinner was served 
on the lawn at the noon hour, and a large group of relatives 
and friends were present.

Rev. Phillips, the Methodist minister from Mt. Erie, spoke 
and Mrs. Phillips sang, "Precious Memories."

Mr. and Mrs. McDowell were married 50 years ago at the home 
of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thompson Porterfield, by Rev. 
Lincolnfelter.  Several were present who were at their wedding. 
They were Mrs. Anna Hedrick, Mrs. Mattie Chapman, Wm. Porterfield,
Mrs. Rose Wolfe, Mrs. Beulah Shannon, Mrs. Nelle Bushong, Wm. 
McDowell, and E. L. McDowell.  This was also the 25th wedding 
anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Gardner, of Mt. Erie, and 
the 16th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Wolfe, of 
Mt. Erie.

Mr. and Mrs. McDowell's three children and their families 
were all present.  They are Mr. and Mrs. John Gardner and children, 
Norma Jean and Dwight, of Golden Gate; Mr. and Mrs. Leo McDowell,
of Mt. Erie; and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest McDowell and children, Bobby 
and Tommy, of St. Louis.

Other present were:  Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Johnson and family and Mrs.
Raymond Balding and children, of Albion; Mr. and Mrs. Simon Wilson 
and family, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Wilson, and Naomi McDowell, all of 
Fairfield; Hilda Berg of West Salem; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McDowell 
and Lillian, Mrs. Nelle Bushong, Mr. and Mrs. Thad Penrod and 
children; Fern Sawyer, and Mr. and Mrs. E. L. McDowell, of Golden 
Gate; Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Wilson of Flora; Ovella Cloninger of 
Irondale, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd McDowell and son; Anna Hedrick, 
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Shannon, Mr. and Mrs. James Chapman, Rev. and 
Mrs. Garrett Phillips, Mr. and Mrs. Lyveere Massie, Mr. and Mrs. 
Irvin Wolfe, and family, Mrs. Rose Wolfe, Mrs. Rosa Gardner, 
Blanche Porterfield, Ila Ruth Porterfield, Betty Lou Wolfe and 
Clifton Denny, of Mt. Erie.
