Marriage Certificate
Clerk's Certificate of Marriage
State of Illinois Wayne County

I, Joseph D. Schaeffer, Clerk of the County Court in and for said County, 
hereby certify that Mr. Levi McBride and Miss Sarah Ann Emmons were joined in 
matrimony on the first day of January A.D. 1843 by John Brown Justice of the 
Peace in said County as appears on records in my office. 
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the official seal 
of said County, at Fairfield IL, this the 27th day of December 1877.

Additional Comments:
I recived this certificate of marriage with Levi McBride's Civil War military 
and pension records. Sarah needed to show proof of marriage to get Levi's 
pension after he passed away. So, this is what was in the National Archives.
