This 30th of Oct 1822 . I, Elizabeth Stephens of the State of Illinois White County being long sick and weak in body but of perfect mind memory and understanding thanks unto God for his blessings and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed unto all men once to die. I make this my last will and Testament revoking by this all other will or wills that may have been made. Item the First. that first of all I give and recommend my soul to GOD who give it and my body to the earth from whence it was taken and to be buried in a Christian manner & decent manner at the descrission of my Exector' who is hereafter named. Item the Second my will and desire is that after all my just debts be paid that my estate be distributed in this manner following that is to say to James Stephens my Son one bed and pillows and furniture bolster, consisting of one blanket one coverlet one sheet, one bed quilt, one great coat, one small pot one small tin bucket, one sugar dish, one set of teacups and saucer’s, one large (?)flowance roaster, one coffee pot , one set of teaspoons. Item the Third my desire is the mare and colt and crop be equally divided between my son's James, Solomon, William, & Benjamin, and that James have the looking glass, that Solomon have all the tool’s, our feather bed and pillows and furniture consisting two blankets and one bed quilt and two sheets, and our candlestick and wands. One cow known by ball cow and one set of plates and one set of knives and forks and one earthen dish. Item the Fourth to my son 's William and Benjamin that the bed k:nown by my bed be equally divided by William having the bed tick and pillow and our set of gear and one coverlid and one quilt and one pewter basin and one plain tin waiter and one Sugar dish, salt celler and one g1ass tumbler, and one earthen yellow pitcher, and one strainer, and one stone jar, and one teakettle and smoothing iron, and one bed cord one umbrella and one three year old cow and one sow and barrara shoat and one coffee mill and our bread basket. Item the fourth to my son Benjamin one bed quilt and coverlid one sheet bolster and pillow, large pot, and my saddle, one two year old heifer and four head of hogs one double barreled gun one puter dish, large tin bucket and piggin and noggin and one glass pitcher, tea canister and pepper bon one small florence roaster, black silk shaw and one trunk two toiletts, and to Solomon eight yards of bombuzett one pair of white cotton stocking one pair of fingered gloves and one (?) lace shoes to be divided between James and Solomon and to Polly Stephens my daughter one paper (?) box one black silk bonnet one flannel coat two jackets two calico frocks and one flowered shaw and one calico fly bonnett and five cases handkerchiefs and four cases and to Betsy Pruitt my daughter four cases and (five or fine) casse handkerchiefs and two comb cases and a re--- and one cotton bonnett and to Polly above named … paper boxes one fan one pair of (pockets) and one pair to Betsy and my (gnat?) coat to William and Benjamin equally divided and two cotton frocks and one shirt to Benjamin and two to William to James and Solomon my sons seven yards of spun cotton and our small testament book now to Wi1liam and seven tablespoons and last of all my desire to that Samuel Slocumb be my whole sale executor appointed by me and that this my last wi1l and testament shall revoke all others will or wi11s made by me Signed - Sealed and Delivered this day and date above written in presence of us. No.10 E in the district of lands offered for sale at Shawneetown which lot or qr section of land contains 80 belonging to James, Solomon, William and Benjamin Stephens my sons and that they should clear the said out of the office my will and desire is that the whole of the property bequeathed to my daughter Polly belong to William and Benjamin if she should come and get it in two years from the date of this will that the … belong to William and Benjamin and that the table our barrel and our bread tray and our tribeds?
