Hollinshead, of the firm of Hollinshead & West, dealers in clothing and furnishing goods at Morrison, is a native citizen of Whiteside County, Ill., having been born May 3, 1857, at Fulton. Joshua Hollinshead, his father, is a native of Canada, and is a farmer in Ustick Township. The mother, Nancy (Ingham) Hollinshead, was born in the State of New York, and died at Fulton, this county, leaving two children, both sons. John D. is a pilot on the Mississippi River. Mr. Hollinshead left home when he was 19 years of age to learn the jewelry business, and bought out an establishment at Fulton, where he acquired a practical knowledge of its details. In September, 1879, he came to Morrison, where he entered the clothing house of H. Worthington as a salesman. In January, 1881, associated with J. A. West, he became one of the proprietors of the stock and business interests of his former employer, to which they succeeded by purchase. They are doing a successful and popular business. Mr. Hollinshead is a member of the Masonic fraternity and of the Order of Odd Fellows. His marriage to Mary S. Brumagrin took place at Morrison, Oct. 25, 1882; they have one son, Frank Glenmore, born Jan. 10, 1884. Mrs. Hollinshead was born March 26, 1863, in Spotswood, N. J., and is the daughter of Dr. R. J. and Jane D. (Van Cleef) Brumagrin.
