His parents, John and Katherina (Asser) Hutten, natives of Prussia, came to America in 1863, settling in Jordan Township, this county, where they resided until their death. He was born in Prussia, July 16, 1827, the second in a family of eight, and was about 25 years of age when he came to this country. He located in this county in 1858, purchasing 240 acres of land in Hahnaman Township in 1863, where he finally settled and has since made his home. He has 200 acres of land in good cultivation, and his entire tract constitutes a valuable farm. Mr. Hutten was married in Freeport, Ill., May 25, 1863, to Anna Tieman, a native of Ireland. Mr. and Mrs. H. are the parents of three children,— William J., Mathias J. and one who died when an infant. Mr. H. has been School Director 15 years and Constable three years; in his political principles he is a Democrat, and both himself and Mrs. H. are members of the Catholic Church.
