She was united in marriage to Mr. Oscar Burd in Afton, Iowa, September 27th, 1881. To this union four children were born, three sons, LeeRoy, Chas W., andGlen F., and a daughter, Mayble, now Mrs. Rush Campbell. All children survive. Mrs. Burd came with parents to Nebraska in 1878 and was one of the early pioneers of the state. The Burd homestead was located where the Trenton Methodist church now stands. Mrs. Burd was akind, helpful neighbor and friend. Hers was a cheerful nature and even through the long weeks fo her illness when friends called, she seemed to forget herself in making their visits pleasant and happy. Beside the four children, who are left to mourn her going, she leaves one sister, Mrs. Lucy Lyon of Trenton, two brothers, Frank and Will of Creston, Iowa, six grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. Services were conducted from the Methodist Church, Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock. The Pastor, Rev. A.V. Wilson was in charge and Rev. G. P. Gibbs of the Congregational Church, preached the sermon. A mixed quartet furnished the music. Interment was in the Trenton cemetary. "Fold her, O Father! in thine arms, And let her henceforth be A Messenger of Love between Our human hearts and Thee. Still let her mild rebuking stand Between us and the wrong, And her dear memory serve to make Our faith in goodness strong. And grant that she, who is trembling here, Distrusted all her powers May welcome to her holier home The well-beloved of ours.
