ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Annie Lyman was a remarkable woman -- very short and with only functional hand. Only the thumb remained of one of her hands as a result of her being burned when she was a baby, probably in a tenement fire in her birthplace, Philadelphia. Her parents, John and Anne Lyman, later moved their family to a farm in Maytown, Illinois, near Amboy.
