Brennan, yard superintendent of the Joliet plant of the Illinois Steel Company, was born at Iowa City, Iowa, in 1870, and is of Irish lineage. His father, Thomas Brennan, was a native of Ireland, but when four years of age was brought to the new world and became a resident of Iowa. During the greater part of his active life he had dealt in real estate at Iowa City. He married Miss Anna Lyons, who was born in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and who died in 1901 at the age of fifty-five years. Two of the sons of the family, John G. and James P., are employed in the department of the steel works of which their brother Thomas has control. Under the parental roof Thomas V. Brennan spent the days of his boyhood and youth. He acquired his literary education in the public schools of his native city and also studied law there, but did not continue his reading in that line to a point which would secure his admission to the bar. In 1893 he removed to Chicago and entered the mill of the Illinois Steel Company at South Chicago, remaining until eight years ago, when he came to Joliet. He was appointed yard superintendent of the plant in this city and has charge of all of the outside work. He has assistant foremen for both day and night shifts and five hundred men are employed under him. The position is one of much responsibility and Mr. Brennan is regarded as a worthy and prominent representative of industrial interests in this city. In 1893, at Iowa City, Iowa, was celebrated the marriage of Mr. Brennan and Miss Margaret Cunningham, who was born there. They have two children, Margaret and Louise. Politically Mr. Brennan is a republican, and, while not an aspirant for office, is a firm advocate of the principles of his party. Socially he is connected with the Knights of Columbus, and he and his family are members of the Catholic church. They have a pleasant home at No. 110 North Center street and their friends in Joliet are many. Additional Comments: PAST AND PRESENT OF WILL COUNTY, ILLINOIS By W. W.
