McBride, also a native of Illinois, was born upon a farm near Belleville in 1847 and removing to Joliet in 1874, engaged in the practice of medicine and surgery for seven years, or until his death, which occurred December 19, 1881. His wife, Mrs. Mary E. McBride, is a native of this city, born in 1852, and a daughter of Otis Hardy, one of Will county's early settlers, who died November 7, 1889, at the age of seventy-nine years. Dr. McBride was educated in the Joliet public schools and was graduated from the Joliet high school in the class of 1898. He afterward spent one year as a medical student in the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and three years in Northwestern University at Chicago, from which he was graduated in the class of 1903. On the 20th of June, 1906, in Lima, Ohio, Dr. McBride was married to Miss Nannie Francis, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Owen Francis, of that place. Her father is president of the Lima Loan & Homestead Association and one of the oldest settlers and best known citizens of that section of Ohio. Dr. and Mrs. McBride have gained many friends during the period of their residence in Joliet. He is a member of the Will County Medical Society, the Illinois State Medical Society and the American Medical Association, and with broad and thorough training and laudable ambition he is destined to win prominence and success in the profession which he has chosen as a life work.
