In 1856 he came to America, and in the fall of the same year located in Crete, this county; here he remained until 1863, when coming to Joliet, he was employed as Deputy Recorder until the autumn of 1869. Having been admitted to the bar, he now began the practice of law, and in 1875, opened the German Loan & Savings Bank, which he continues at present with the assistance of his two sons as clerks.
