His father, Jacob Willman, also a native of Kankakee, is now living at the age of fifty-one years, and has devoted his business life to merchandising. The family is of German lineage and was established in America by Carl Willman, the grandfather of our subject, who came from Germany in 1854 and settled in Kankakee, becoming one of the pioneer residents of the county. He was a brick-mason by trade and thus provided for the support of his family. It was in Kankakee county that his son Jacob was reared and there he has spent his entire life. He is a member of the Evangelical Association and in his political views is an earnest republican. He has served as coroner of Kankakee county and is recognized as an enterprising business man, who stands well among his friends and neighbors. His wife bore the maiden name of Mary McLean and was born in Millersburg, Pennsylvania. She has now reached the age of fifty-two years and she is also a member of the Evangelical church. In the family are five children: Arthur, who is engaged in the practice of dentistry in Kankakee; Jerome E.; Herman P. who follows merchandising in Kankakee; and Clarence and Frank, both in school. Dr. Willman, of Peotone, acquired his early education in the schools of his native city and prepared for his profession by a course in the Chicago College of Dental Surgery, which he entered in 1897, and from which he was graduated in 1900. He entered upon the practice of his profession in Peotone and has been very successful. During his senior college year he also pursued a course in aural surgery. He is conversant with the most modern methods of practice and keeps in touch with the advanced thought and investigation of the profession through his membership in the Northern Illinois Dental Society and the Illinois State Dental Society. Dr. Willman was married, in 1904, to Miss Lillie Erzinger, who was born in Kankakee in 1883, a daughter of Ulrich and Amelia Erzinger, the former a merchant of Kankakee. Dr. and Mrs. Willman hold membership in the United German Evangelical church and his political allegiance is given to the republican party but he has neither desire nor ambition for office, preferring to concentrate his time and energies upon his business affairs and in his profession he is making consecutive advancement, demonstrating his ability in the excellent work which he does for his patrons.
