Utica [NY] Daily Observer October 26, 1875
Joliet, Ill., Oct. 26. - Jacobs, the farmer of Homer, who has been on trial 
here for wife murder last spring, was found guilty by the Jury to-day, who 
fixed the penalty as death by hanging. The evidence was only circumstantial, 
but very strong.
