B. Ogden, proprietor of the St. Nicholas Hotel, in this city, was badly injured while in Lockport last evening. His horse, which he was attempting to lead from the barn preparatory to returning to Joliet, suddenly reared and struck him with his fore feet, knocking him down and trampling upon him. His injuries are severe about the head and chest, but it is thought that he will recover. A two-story frame house owned by L. Bez and located on Van Buren street, just east of the Chicago, Alton and St. Louis track, in this city, was badly damaged by fire last night. The most probable cause is incendiarism, as no fire had been in the house for several days. The Continental had $2,000 on the house and the Insurance Company of North America $1,000 on the contents.
