He tried to end his life Tuesday, when a bottle of strychnine was taken from him, and made two attempts to secure laudanum before he finally secured it. He fought against the administering of antidotes, and undoubtedly owes his life to the fact that the druggist secretly diluted the poison with water before selling it to him.
