F. M. S. Friday night at her home on Herkimer. Mrs. Samuel Fewtrill entertained the Richard Street Church W. F. M. S., Friday night on Second avene. J. Pierpont Morgan, of Drexel, Morgan & Co., of Philadelphia, and a company of Eastern capitalists spent Friday night and a portion of Saturday looking over Joliet. They came to inspect the outerbelt line and the improvements at Joliet. Charles Kilcullen, formerly of Joliet, who has been living in Pueblo, Col., for the past several years, was brought home dead this week. His funeral was one of the largest ever seen in Joliet. A splendid new depot is being built by the Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railway Company of Joliet. The city water-works system is being extended, and also the Joliet Electric Street-car and Lighting System to meet the demands of this rapidly expanding city. Dr. Nichols, a young lady physician of Chicago, is visiting Joliet friends. A. T. Hay, of Burlington, Iowa, is among his Joliet friends. William Kearns and wife, of Iowa, are the guests of D. K. Gelse. Paul Smith, Jr., of New York, was visiting F. W. Macomber this week. N. D. Dyer is in Iowa City. William Watkins has returned from his family reunion at Sheldon, Ill. Fred Dillman is back in California. Mrs. A. L. Johnson has returned to her home in Detroit, Mich., after a few weeks' stay here. John O'Brian, of St. Louis, formerly of Joliet, is among his friends here on a visit. Mrs. Charles Nagel, of Louisville, Ky., and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gelderman, of Chicago, are visiting friends in Joliet. Rev. Foster is improving from a severe illness. Louis Gottschalg and sister Gussie are visiting in Chicago. Joe Ralph returned to Washing Wednesday. W. H. Odell and family have returned to Joliet to live. Major J. M. Thompson has returned from Ohio. Mrs. C. A. Burlingame, of Earlville, is visiting Joliet friends. Miss Kate Stevens is spending a few weeks with Kenosha (Wis.) friends. Bishop McLaren, of Chicago, preached in Christ's Episcopal Church to-day in Joliet. Mr. and Mrs. John P. King are visiting friends at Delafield, Wis. Julias Haas, of Earlville, is among Joliet friends. P. C. Royce, of Hartford, Conn., is visiting Joliet relations. Miss Maggie Taylor, of Chicago, is visiting Joliet friends. Mrs. H. Francisco, of Constantine, Mich., is visiting Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Blair. Died - Katherine Hamlet, aged 3 months; Ward S. Dillman, aged 38? years; James T. Donahoe, aged 62 years; Henry S. Gates, aged 52 years; Willie Stanton, aged 6 weeks. Born - To Mr. and Mrs. Ashley Porter, a daughter. Married - Charles H. Woods and Miss Jeanette C. LaMorris; C. R. Cowell and Miss Kate Mosier.
