The murdered man and his brother James were returning from the league ball game when they saw an amateur club playing near the Rock Island track. The Commisky brothers were partially intoxicated, and James wanted to show the young fellows how to play ball. He took the bat away from the batter, and a general fight ensued. Dennis interfered, and was hit on the head with a bat, a crushing blow, which produced instant death. The evidence of the onlookers is conflicting, and it is not yet definitely ascertained who struck the fatal blow, but it is pretty generally believed that Jimmy Golden, one of the players, did it. He made his escape. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/il/will/newspapers/murdered149gnw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/ilfiles/ File size: 1.5 Kb
