All that remains to be done is to go ahead with the work. It will be remembered that several years ago the corps purchased the Trowbridge property overlooking the Kankakee river, at one of the prettiest spots about Wilmington, Will county, but were unable to secure sufficient funds to pay for it. The matter remained in this condition till Senator Munroe brought an appropriation of $5000 to pay for a site, $5000 for maintaining the place for the first year, and $10,000 the second. The bill passed both houses, and a board of trustees was appointed as follows: Capt. N. M. N. Stewart, Wilmington; Captain Black, Chicago; Mrs. C. Porter Johnson, Englewood; Mrs. R. W. Bunn, Sumner; Mrs. Florence J. Miller, president of the W. R. C. of Illinois, Monticello and Capt. Wm. H. Ward, Chicago. The board met at Wilmington yesterday and organized as follows: Captain Stewart, president; Mrs. Florence J. Miller, secretary; Mrs. C. Porter Johnson, treasurer. The purchase of the property mentioned was ratified and the board will now go ahead and prepare a place of the soldiers' widows.
