Stariba confessed that they had gone to Beltzner's store to rob him, but when they leveled revolvers at him and ordered him to throw up his hands the old man chased them to the door, where they fired at him. The boys went to their homes and went to bed, but the police secured evidence of their identify from a young woman who had seen them in the neighborhood before the shooting. Both have been identified by street car men as the men who held them up and stole their watches and money at the end of Granite street line. They were also identified by Peter Murin, a saloonkeeper, as the holdup men who locked him in his ___ box and rifted his cash drawer. It is believed that a long list of crimes, including the mysterious murder of Arthur Yack, will also be cleared up in their arrest. Robbers Slay Joliet Grocer Aged Merchant Resists Two Hold-Up Men Who Invade His Store August Beltzner, _6 years old, was shot and killed while resisting two hold-up men in his grocery store in Joliet, shortly after 8 o'clock Wednesday night. The bandits fired three shots at the man. One of the bullets pierced his heart, and death was instantaneous. Posses have been formed in the hope of capturing the bandits. They are described as each being about 21 years old and fashionably dressed. Beltzer was counting the day's receipts when the men entered. He resisted their demand for cash, and they opened fire upon him. A number of citizens heard the shots and saw the murderers escaping, but thinking boys near by were shooting firecrackers or blank cartridges paid no attention to the fleeing men.
