Bowen, of Wilmington, aged 78, died Thursday. The doctor's wife died a week previous. They were buried at Joliet, of which city Dr. Bowen was the first settler, platted it, and was its first postmaster. He left an immense property and no children. Both he and his wife left wills, probably dividing their property between a couple of grandchildren. Their only son Maj. Bowen, was killed in the late civil war.
