"Jack" Christensen, 81, of Peotone, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Miller Center in Kankakee. Visitation: 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday Funeral services 11 a.m. Monday at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home in Peotone Rev. Bruce Salter will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials - St. John's United Church of Christ or the Peotone American Legion Post 392, both of which he was a member. Charter bus driver for many years. Retired custodian for the Peotone School District. Brn February 11, 1928, in Dwight Parents: Axel H. and Ella Jacobsgaard Christensen. Wife, the former Marie L. Sovad, whom he married November 1, 1954, in Dwight, died August 15, 2007. Served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Surviving: 2 and daughters-in-law: Steven and Debra Christensen, Gerard and Sandi Christensen, all of Manteno; 1 daughter and son-in-law: Kathy and Richard Haydysch of Louisburg, N.C.; and 7 grandchildren. Deceased: 1 brother, Earl J. Christensen and 1 sister, Blanche Papineau.
