Visitation: 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Fedde-Helfrich Chapel in Peotone and from 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's United Church of Christ, north Peotone, until the 11 a.m. funeral service. Rev. Bruce Salter will officiate. Interment: Skyline Memorial Park, Monee. Memorials may be made to Peotone American Legion Post 392. He was a corrections officer in Frankfort. Born May 8, 1979, in Joliet Son of Fred Sr. and Karen Ritzmann Nagel. He was a 1998 graduate of Peotone High School He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, was deployed to New York City following Sept. 11, 2001. He also served in Afghanistan. Member of the Peotone American Legion Post 392. Member of St. John's United Church of Christ, north Peotone. Surviving: Mother, Karen Barth of Peotone; Father and stepmother, Fred Sr. and Ann Marie Nagel of Green Garden Township; 1 brother, Fred C. Nagel Jr. of Peotone 1 stepsister, Elizabeth Manning of Green Garden Township 3 uncles: Dean (Mary) Ritzmann, Ralph Nagel Jr. and, Ed Nagel Maternal grandmother, Marjorie Ritzmann of Peotone Paternal grandfather, Ralph Nagel Sr. of Green Garden Township and numerous cousins.
