Richard C. Nieland, 87, of rural Frankfort, Green Garden Township, died Monday, 
April 20, 2009 at his home.
Visitation 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home 
in Peotone with services 11 a.m. Thursday. 
Rev. Peggy Johnson will officiate.
Burial St. Peter's Cemetery in Green Garden Township.
Pallbearers - Keith Kautz, Jay Nadler, Dave Toepper, Paul Nieland, Kevin Lewis 
and Ken Tsilis. 
Memorials - St. Peter's Cemetery Improvement Fund. 

He was owner/operator of Strickler's Hardware in Park Forest for more than 30 
years. 
Born March 15, 1922, at the family home in rural Frankfort, Green Garden 
Township.
Son of William and Edna Elsner Nieland. 
His wife, the former Jean D. Voigt, whom he married September 12, 1944, in 
Monee, died May 18, 2007. 
Member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Monee. 
Green Garden Township clerk for seven years.
Green Garden Township supervisor for 20 years.
Will County Board and Will County Forest Preserve Commission member for 16 
years. 
Enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, bird-watching and especially his 
grandchildren.

1 daughter, Diane Toepper of Frankfort
2 sons and daughters-in-law, Duane and Colleen Nieland, Randall and Wendy 
Nieland, all of Monee
7 grandchildren, David Toepper, Christy (Kevin) Lewis, Shelly (Ken) Tsilis, 
Renee and Julie Nieland, Paul (Jennifer) Nieland, Jonelle Nieland
8 great-grandchildren, Brandon (Nina) Toepper, Kiira and Dane Toepper, Bridget 
Lewis, Alexandra and Joe Tsilis, Victoria Nieland, Caleb Hardy
2 great-great-grandchildren, Vince and Gage Toepper.

Deceased:
1 son-in-law, Vince Toepper (1997)
1 granddaughter-in-law, Gina Toepper (2004)
Parents
1 sister, Marjorie L. Kautz (2005).
