Jean D. Nieland, 81, of Green Garden Township died May 18, 2007 at her home.

Born June 18, 1925, in Monee

Was a homemaker, bookkeeper at the family-owned Strickler’s Hardware of Park 
Forest, and a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Monee. 

She had more than 25 years of music lessons and played the organ for many years 
on Sunday morning at The Anchorage of Beecher.

Survived by husband, Richard C. Nieland, whom she married on September 12, 
1944, in Monee.
Daughter Diane (the late Vince) Toepper of Frankfort; 
2 sons, Duane (Colleen) Nieland and Randall (Wendy) Nieland, both of Monee; 
7 grandchildren, David (the late Gina) Toepper, Christy (Kevin) Lewis, Shelly 
(Ken) Tsilis, Renee and Julie Nieland, Paul (fiance Jennifer Sliwa) Nieland and 
Jonelle Nieland; 
7 great-grandchildren, Brandon (Nina) Toepper, Kiira and Dane Toepper, Bridget 
Lewis, Alexandra and Joe Tsilis, and Victoria Nieland; 
2 greatgreat- grandchildren, Vince and Gage Toepper; 
sister, Elaine (Dr. James) Nadler of Peotone.

Preceded in death by:
Her parents, William H. and Velna Schlottman Voigt; 
sister, Fern Freitag, in 1975; 
son-in-law, Vince Toepper, in 1997; 
granddaughter- in-law, Gina Toepper, in 2004; 
sister-in-law, Marjorie Kautz, in 2005.

Funeral:  May 22 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. Rev. Peggy Johnson 
officiated. 

Burial: St. Peter’s Cemetery in Green Garden Township.

Pallbearers: Keith Kautz, Jay Nadler, Dave Toepper, Paul Nieland, Kevin Lewis 
and Ken Tsilis.

Memorials: Joliet Area Community Hospice or Alzheimer’s Disease Research.

Arrangements: Fedde-Helfrich Chapel in Peotone.
