Visitation: 2 pm to 8 pm Thursday, Fedde-Helfrich Chapel, Peotone, and 10 am, Friday, Immanuel United Church of Christ,Peotone, until 11 am funeral services. Rev. William Riegle will officiate. Interment: Peotone Cemetery. Pallbearers: Her grandchildren and their spouses. Memorials may be made to Immanuel United Church of Christ or the Plassmann Scholarship at Immanuel UCC. She died Monday, May 28, 2007, at Miller Center in Kankakee. Mrs. Plassmann was a secretary for Hinrich's Real Estate in Peotone before her marriage. Born Feb. 17, 1920, in Peotone. Daughter of Fred August and Henrietta Emma Schmid Deininger. Served with her husband, Rev. Dean Plassmann, who was pastor at Immanuel UCC in Hinsdale, St. Peter's UCC in Lake Zurich and at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone. Member of the Senior Church Choir and Immanuel Women's Fellowship, chairman of the cancer dressing unit in Lake Zurich and in Peotone at Immanuel, and a member the Peotone American Legion Auxiliary. Played the pump organ at the First Evangelical United Brethren Church in Peotone and the piano for the Sunday school as a youth. Graduate of Peotone Grammar School and Peotone High School in 1938. Surviving: Her husband, Rev. Dean G. Plassmann, whom she married March 18, 1945, at Immanuel United Church of Christ, by her father-in-law, Rev. E.H. Plassmann. 1 son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Sharon Plassmann of Cedar Lake, Indiana. 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Rachel and Donald Tira of Coal City, Illinois and Deanna and Kit Carstens of McHenry, Illinois. 10 grandchildren, Mark (Paula) Tira, Scott Tira, Kim (Ben) Dickey, Leigh (Brett) Garrelts, Chad Tira, Josh Carstens, Blair Carstens, Matthew, David and Anna Plassmann 4 great-grandchildren, Ashleigh and Evan Tira, Jarod and Carter Garrelts; and one niece, Jeanne (Brice) Deininger Hendrickson of Grayslake. Her parents and one brother, Henry Winton Deininger, are deceased.
